ESET’s suite is the best value-for-money. Its malware detection rate comes close to perfection and the suite offers an impressive array of additional features in a small footprint. The Android package comes with a theft prevention feature to help you locate your lost phone. The premium version includes parental controls, a secure browser, and a passcode manager. The network security features are excellent, with a firewall and an option to scan your home devices for vulnerabilities.

A particular standout is SysInspector, a handy tool that captures a screenshot of your system and highlights running processes, important Registry entries, as well as other information. It’s a bit daunting for newbies but if you’re accustomed to advanced task management tools like those found in the Sysinternals process explorer, you’ll feel right at right at home.

Another feature that is great is the possibility of scheduling scans on-demand. This is an excellent alternative to real-time security as it’s quick and easy to use. It’s a shame ESET doesn’t group it with other scheduling tasks and their UI makes it a bit more difficult to find than some of their competitors.

Other important features include a powerful form filler that can be used for online banking, a powerful spam filter that scores the best scores in our tests, and a very capable password manager that’s easy to use. The password manager is only available in the premium version that requires an account with ESET to use, performs as well as many standalone options.
